Mahé and Praslin car rental uses one car on each island. The Seychelles rental conditions prohibit travel outside the car’s home island, so a booking for Mahé ends on Mahé and Praslin has its own car.

Each booking has its own dates, rental company, voucher and deposit. The crossing between the islands is not part of either rental.

Why can’t I use the same car on both islands?

Clause 9 of the Seychelles terms: travelling outside the home island is prohibited. The rental conditions for Seychelles apply to both cars. Clause 8 allows paved public roads only.

Which pickup point should I choose on Mahé?

The Mahé search lists Seychelles International Airport (SEZ), the Cat Cocos ferry terminal and the cruise port, and a car rental in Victoria has its own search with city delivery. Questions about delivery or a pickup at a port go to the rental company, whose contact details are in the email sent after booking.

How does the Praslin pickup work?

A search for car hire on Praslin lists Praslin Airport (PRI), Praslin Ferry Harbour and city delivery. The Praslin booking has its own pickup time, company contact and deposit.

Should the two rentals overlap?

The minimum chargeable period is 24 hours, and a started extra day is charged as a full day. A rental from Monday morning to Tuesday afternoon is charged as two full days.

An extension needs advance notice to the rental agent. A booking cancelled at least 7 days before it starts (30 days for luxury cars and convertibles, 24 hours with the Free cancellation option) has its advance refunded, less a payment service fee of 6 percent of the amount paid.

Can I choose different cars for each island?

Yes. Each booking is for its own car, with the seats and transmission shown in its listing.

Each car has its own price, deposit and minimum driver age, shown in its offer.

Do both bookings need the same documents?

Yes. Both handovers need a valid physical national licence with its details also in Latin script, valid until the last rental day. Minimum age and driving experience are set per car.

Payment and deposit are also set per car, and the deposit rules for each booking apply separately. A physical embossed credit card in the main driver’s name may be required at each pickup.

What should I repeat at the second handover?

The second car goes back with the fuel level it had at its own pickup.

Driving in Seychelles is subject to the same road-use restrictions on both islands: paved public roads only, and standard insurance excludes the wheels, undercarriage, windscreen and interior. The licence and card rules behind the checks for a Seychelles Airport pickup apply at either handover.

What if my island itinerary changes?

Each booking is changed on its own: a change is made by cancelling that booking and creating a new one. Questions about a car go to its own rental company.

Missing fuel is charged at the company’s rates, and extra fuel is not refunded. A car too dirty to inspect is washed at the renter’s expense. The phone number given at booking must be reachable during each rental and on the day before each pickup.
